Artist Pilar Bustos gifted author Gabriela Alemán 8 acuarela illustrations to use as she wished. While eating a plate of seaweed, Gabriela was hit with the inspiration for “Imaginación Radioactiva”.
The story follows a young child who imagines an entire world when she falls asleep. One day, the world of her dreams spills into the waking world. Koke, a poison dart frog from the Amazon gets pulled into it unexpectedly.
How to Tell a Story
The story jumps between the acuarela illustrations made by Bustos and a variety of digital illustration techniques and colorful backgrounds to show how the story progresses from one world to another. Eventually, it all starts to come together.
Pilar's incredible acuarela drawings where made on 6x11 inch thick paper. The drawings had to be scanned then carefully edited to be incorporated into the book.
